The train...
I suppose it's technically a funicular, this train that creeps up the mountain via a separate track of gears....it was built about 10 years before Caux was built in the 1890s to serve tourists. Anyway. It's this rickety thing, that makes me think of Disneyland. (Others think so too...and two friends have commented on how I should really post a pic of the trains that have these cartoony Marmots painted on their sides....I thought that would be too obvious.)
Anyway...this Rochers de Naye train is pretty much the main way to get up the mountain...and I can't say I'm a big fan. It's really old, there's no AC, so the two times I've been on it have been disgustingly hot....and it's about a 20-30 minute ride. It's small and crowded and you're not really sure if it's going to make it up the mountain. Half the time I'm expecting it to do a sudden drop and then circle around like a roller coaster...the view though, is amazing:
...and the company is very nice...
