Remnants of a past life

Today, my friend Sara personally delivered the remnants of my mail from San Francisco.  Apparently in my absence, I had accumulated quite a bit of mail that my conscientious former roommates had kept, and transported all the way to their new digs in SF.  I've visited the Bay Area a few times since my move, and this mail is always a subject of discussion.  I've always told them to throw it out, since it was probably all junk mail, and I forwarded everything important.  Besides---what could there be?  I only lived with them on Villa Street in Mountain View for 3 months in the summer of 2004.  But no, they insisted.  Come get your mail.

I never did get my mail, and today it reached me (bizarrely via a British Indian friend who stayed with them during a recent trip to SF).   Here's the inventory:  One, Cry the Beloved book, a gift from Ann---thank you Ann!  Several miscellaneous pens and markers that really were not mine to begin with.  One notepad with Janet's mom's phone number.   Eight credit card offers.   One Costco insurance offer, with plea to respond by May 5, 2005.  One AAA membership for a car I no longer have---expires June 8, 2006!  And my personal favorite: a 2005 Sears calendar in Chinese.   When did I ever shop at Sears?
